Faith Johnston: Selected Columns, Poetry & Prose: Faith M. Johnston (1902-1998) was a woman ahead of her time, a nature lover and environmentalist. She taught in the Biology Department of Central Michigan University for 46 years and wrote newspaper columns for almost 30 years. She credited her father for her pursuit of higher education. John Y. Johnston informed his daughter, “If a woman has an education she won’t have to marry the first no-good that comes along.” Faith also stated, “In comparison to other women of my generation, I was born free.”

Faith especially enjoyed her porch at home in Rosebush, Michigan surrounded by her beloved plants and animal friends. Here she found the peace and inspiration to create the contents of this book using an old-fashioned typewriter.
