Product Description
The Big Picture Book of Mt. Pleasant Michigan by Jack Westbrook: The most compehensive photo history of the town's growth from village to city ever published. This volume will introduce the newcomer to Mt. Pleasant's heritage and provide hours of nostalgia to longtime residents, as well as being a welcome addition to any historian's bookshelf. Matching vintage pictures with camera views from the same angle today, local photo history venteran Jack R. Westbrook turns to reporting on his home town, describing in photos what was there and what hundreds of locations look like in 2010. Westbrook turns the camera's eye on a number of historical homes and businesses, introducing the folks who occupied them. The book is flavored by a high schooler's description of life in the town in 1920, and local interviewer and columnist Burnie Bonnell's interview with notables of the past. Part of the proceeds from this book will be devoted to the Veterans Memorial Library at Mt. Pleasant for the purchase of a new microfilm reader system to replace the library's outmoded equipment. The new machine will allow downloads in a variety of electronic formats.
